As much as we ❤️️ Instagram, it’s important to truly weigh up if this platform will have the best ROI of your time, energy, and money.
It can be a great platform for SME’s but does require a fair amount of investment to truly reap the full rewards, so you might be wondering… is it worth it?
Here are some of the pros of IG for business:
✅ It’s all about images, making it a great platform for product-based businesses
✅ It’s also great for service-based businesses using guides and carousels populated with copy-based posts (just check out our feed for inspo!)
✅ Users can easily share & save content making it easy to spread your biz through word of mouth
✅ Super easy to use via the IG app
✅ Real-time engagement metrics make it easy to measure success
✅ Endless editing & content creation apps for images & videos
But then there’s the cons…
❌ Sharing poor quality imagery can negatively impact brand perception
❌ There’s a 125 character limit for ads
❌ Feed video clips are only 60 seconds long, unless you use IGTV
❌ No clickable links in captions, meaning you rely on 1 link in your bio
❌ At approx $0.50 to $1.00 USD, the average cost-per-click (CPC) on Instagram is relatively high
❌ Not everyone is on Instagram despite its popularity – so check if your demographic is
Overall, we love Instagram for its ability to share regular content and stay front-of-mind with your audience. You can share a lot more content via IG than say, emails, without frustrating users, and the potential for cultivating community is enormous.
